Patty Ostberg-Speiker, M.A.
Working along-side me, clients are empowered to actively change their problems while experiencing therapy in a safe and encouraging environment. Let's build your resilience together and help you heal from past hurts to move in a new direction. My therapeutic approaches include evidenced-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, mindfulness and EMDR techniques. I enjoy working with families, couples, children (ages 8 years and up) and individuals.
My specialty areas are anxiety, panic attacks, depression, parenting strategies and military families. Anxiety impacts our ability to be fully present when we want to be. Together we can decrease its power in your life, and increase your ability to manage it when you choose.
Changes parents have experienced while working with me include feeling more in control, increased child cooperation and actually enjoying parenting. Parenting is hard, and together we will find ways to empower you to be your child's best teacher.
My other passion is working with military families. I was raised an Army brat, so not only can I relate, I also understand issues unique to the armed services culture. I currently work for the University of Minnesota as a facilitator and coach for their After Deployment: Adaptive Parenting Tools program.
My first career was at the Minnesota State Legislature as a journalist for more than a decade, along with health insurance and pharmacy companies. I received bachelor degrees in Journalism and Political Science from the University of Wisconsin River Falls. I earned a Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy from St. Mary's University of Minnesota in 2017.
As a pre-licensed therapist, I work under the supervision of Minnesota Marriage and Family Therapy Board Approved, Jennie Gorres in the Foundations Counseling office. I am able to offer reduced rates (link to rates) during this time and currently take insured clients of Preferred One. Clients may also use their HSA or benefits cards to pay for sessions.
